TELEPHONE:- NATIONAL 7471 (6 lines) TELEGRAMS:- DOMUNCULA-CENT-LONDON 2nd February, 1937. W.A.Robotham, Esq., Experimental Departments, Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, Derby. Dear Robotham, Please forgive my worrying you, but I should be most grateful for your advice. You will be surprised to hear that my car is growing old, and although it is still able to cover the ground well, my wife thinks it is high time that we had a new one. Messrs. P.W. tell me that they have a 20/25 h.p. Rolls-Royce coming in about a fortnight's time which they, and my wife, think would be very suitable. It is a close coupled saloon body with a boot, 1932 vintage, and the chassis Number is GMU76. I am told, although I have not yet seen it, that it is in excellent condition and has done approximately 30,000 miles. Do you think this would be a good buy? P.W. promised me a special price. If you do think it is a good buy, and we decide to have it, I expect it will want several things doing to it, and I am wondering if it would be too much trouble if I asked you if you would be so kind as to cast your eye over it, and have whatever is necessary done at Derby. I could send Baylis up with the car if, by any chance, you would be so kind as to do so. I should also like to mention to you that a great friend of mine, Mr. H.C.Drayton, has just ordered a 40/50 hp. R.R. Phantom - 3 with a P.W.body. I have not so far been able to get the chassis number, as I understand the chassis is not due for delivery until August, but if you could possibly keep an eye on it at the Works I should be exceedingly grateful. He is a great friend of mine, and will I think, be a very valuable customer of yours. (Continued:-) | ||
