Messrs. Borg & Beck Ltd.,
Tachbrook Road,
Leamington Spa.

For the attention of Mr. Barker.

Dear Sirs,

I wonder whether you could give me the position as to when you expect to be able to manufacture the Long type of clutch driven member. If there is any difficulty about this from your side due to the small quantities likely to be required, would there be any objection to us undertaking the manufacture of it ourselves ?

It seems to me that as we have an odd size of clutch, and the Long plate is something of which you have had little or no experience, we might relieve you of a certain amount of worry if we worked on those lines.

This does not mean that we are not interested in the experiments which you are carrying out on the Borg and Beck type of plate, but only that so far the Long centre plate is the only which has given continuous satisfaction. We should bethe first to agree that this may be in some way due to the back plate distortion we have been experiencing.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
