We agree that we shall have to consider the mileage on this car finished. We had hoped to change the engine and run the rear axle a further 15,000 miles.

The original reason for sending this car to France was for an engine bearing test.

Hoyts Z3 Whitemetal mains.
Standard big ends with improved lubrication.

We have not yet examined these.

The engine also had an external filter which we have learned we cannot standardise owing to oil pressure drop when braking.

The silchrome exhaust valves cannot be standardised owing to failure.

As regards the chassis, the most important item was the wheel drivers to prevent complaints of knocks. These will be standardised after inspection. The axle pinion bearing was of an increased capacity but fits in the existing space.

The car was fitted with Girling brakes and light alloy drums. Useful information about these will have been obtained.

A raised engine mount to EX drawings was fitted. It has proved satisfactory as regards strength and also handling of the car. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} is doing a design on these lines for test on the next 15,000 miles' car.

KLG. porcelain sparking plugs gave a satisfactory proof test having already been standardised.

For other small features, such as rubber hose connections and water joints, sheets have been circulated.
