Twickenham.

For the attention of Mr.Hewitt.

Dear Sir,

We believe you have found our RR.53 alloy very successful for BHB pistons. We understand, however, that you experienced a certain amount of trouble with pistons running in high speed engines and that a different heat treatment was suggested by our chemist to overcome this. We should be much indebted, if you could give us any information on this point as we are ourselves having piston failures when attempting to run engines at much increased speeds.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
