To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} X1033 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GR.{George Ratcliffe}4/KW.17.4.36. 21-G-IV. Unit C-15. A DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}-42 Stromberg carburetter was fitted for road test and consumption as a model. This carb. was tested on the bench by Mr. Fisher. Carburation was O.K. throughout the range, the main .062" and the bypass .030". Glossop route - 109 miles/38 M.P.H./15.3 M.P.G. Buxton route - 71 miles/45 M.P.H./16.2 M.P.G. The water temperature was also checked in the following manner. A second transmitting thermometer was fitted in the radiator top tank. On braking from high speed the cylinder head temperature immediately rose from 85°C. to over 100°C., whereas the radiator temperature only increased 0.5°C. This test was carried out in conjunction with Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Steadman. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/G.H.Ratcliffe. | ||
