REPORT ON 21. G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} IV. AFTER
ARRIVAL AT CHATEAUROUX ON
12th AUGUST 1935.

The Engine was smothered in oil due to two causes.

1) Rocker cover loose oil had drained down Cylinders.
This cover without a joint washer will not remain firm.
The Valve springs had cut grooves in the side where springs are situated due to looseness of cover.

2) The Dynamo drive bottom brake block was not making a joint.
The paper washer was torn and ruffled up. This caused a bad oil leak.

WATER LEAKS.

1) There was a water leak from the side Cylinder plate joint screws.

2) Water Pump gland leaked.

GEAR BOX.

Upon checking up level of oil, the box was found to be practically empty. There were three causes for this.

1) Bijur pipe line clip and screw missing under Servo. 3/16 hole left in box.

2) Bijur pipe line clip and screw missing under Swinging Arm. 3/16" hole left in box.

3) The baffle in the bracket of the Swinging Arm where the Brake pedal shaft goes through, had too big an aperture between the baffle and the shaft. Oil was leaking past and down the Swinging Arm.

PROPELLER SHAFT.

The front mechanics joints was found empty of grease. New leather washers are required for the inside joints.
(Please send some along).

CHANGE SPEED LEVER.

The Change Speed lever was too tight and would not slide easily.
