| X8710. 9.10.28. IGNITION COIL TEST ON PHANTOM. ______________________________ (0) Arrange switch to short contact breaker. (1) Run engine normally but with weak mixture on battery, magneto and charge, to thoroughly warm up, the ignition being advanced. (approx. one hour) (2) Short contact breaker and continue to run engine on magneto with coil current still passing. (15 mins) (3) With throttle still open, mixture still weak, and ignition still advanced, stop engine by switching off magneto only, i.e. leaving coil current running. (4) Open switch and quickly check that ammeter still indicates coil current. (5) Does engine now start by retarding lever ? It ought to do. ____________ 2.11.28. This test was carried out on 98-NK. with satisfactory results, the coil being of the coarser primary type and the ballast of the double resistance type. EFC. | ||
