BENTLEY 111.

We are now in a position to enable us to issue a list of part lists for the above chassis for each Department, which are clear from any major modifications in the future. The object of the issue is :-

(a). To give facilities to the Tool Department to make and issue the necessary designs for tools and equipment.

(b). To give sufficient data to the Works to enable them to produce accurate costs for the chassis in question.

In regard to (a) we are not including for this purpose the gearbox and change gear mechanism, as there is still a certain amount of work to be done on the gearbox, which may re-act on the jigs and tools. Similarly, the rear spring and its rear shackle should be left open for the present, as we are considering :-

(1). Slightly increased camber.

(2). A longer shackle link.

(3). Screwed shackle.

In regard to the question of cost, we should for the moment omit the gearbox.

The rear spring shackle should similarly be left open, as we anticipate issuing finished drawings for this part in the course of a few days.

'G' Dept. should note that the rear axle used for 'M' series Bentley is the type which we shall use on Bentley 111.

The semi-floating axle has been eliminated from this chassis completely.
