Bailey - Chief Engineer} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} S E C R E T. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}9/LG31.12.24. EAC. 'V' SERIES. 48430 Steering positions. The first 'V' series car which we have fitted up was an existing 40/50 car which we have converted into a 'V' series EAC. As a 40/50 car, it was delivered to us from Sales fitted with a Barker Saloon body and 'B' steering. The seating position was not correct to our Coachbuilders drawings but the car was reasonably good. We have now changed the steering and fitted to it an EAC. 'B' type steering. We find that the drivers vision is now spoilt due to the rim of the wheel being higher at the front which is due to the different angle of the wheel and also to the larger diameter of wheel. The car is most uncomfortable to drive since fitting the EAC. steering. We are having the seating position made correct to the drawing. We have tried it fixed up temporarily and still consider the wheel position and the drivers vision will be criticised. We think it is important that this matter should be settled because the one essential feature of 'V' series is that coachbuilders drawings were not to be altered. The Works are busy producing steerings similar to the one we have fitted up. We therefore suggest that you visit Derby as soon as poss. If this is going to cause any delay on the EAC. instructions we are waiting for, we will send the car to W.W. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
