In view of the fact that a level indicator is provided on the instrument board to shew the driver the quantity of petrol in the main tank any moment a very small reserve supply of petrol is provided. This is only sufficient to run the car about 4 miles.

If this supply is exhausted the carburetter pipe-line, filter, autovac, and line to the tank at the rear, are all left dry.

The results of this is that the engine will have to be run for over a minute on the starter motor after the rear tank has been filled before fuel will reach the carburetter.

This is obviously most undesirable and in consequence every endeavour should be made to fill up the main tank before the reserve of petrol us exhausted.
