X7530 RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} from EFC. c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} EFC1/AM9.5.30. X.4670. PARK ROYAL AMMETERS AND PATCH INSTRUMENT BOARD ASSEMBLY. X.7530. Please find attached copy of my assistant's report JD.{J. Draper - Frames}80, resulting from investigating for the reason why we have recently had to return so many Park Royal ammeters to the makers who in each case report the only trouble has been due to foreign matter entering the movement. You will note C.J's suggestion that when any one instrument is removed from the patch on a car another instrument be fitted, if only temporarily, to prevent dust getting in the remaining instruments. It will be remembered that we had some amount of trouble with the standard Elliott ammeters on production though there is not so much trouble at present. We trust we can assume that Ly. has arranged all the necessary precautions to be taken to avoid this trouble. The ammeters are in their very nature particularly susceptible to derangement by small particles of ferrous dust and every precaution should be taken to avoid same. EFC. Report JD.{J.
