| To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner} c. Mr. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} WS. re Bentley Pistons. We send you herewith: LeC.3698 Split Skirt Piston. 3699 Semi-split Piston. It should be noted that both these pistons can be made from the same castings but new metal cores are required for the present dies. These pistons differ from our previous designs in the following points: (1) Three piston rings instead of four. (2) Alter piston ring section. (3) A thinner head. (4) The webs running from the gudgeon pin bosses are continuous and support the piston head. (5) No piston ring stops are to be fitted. It will be noticed that both these pistons are lighter in weight we estimate than our present one, and in the case of LeC.3699 we have saved 1 1/2 ozs. E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner} | ||
