-----------------------------

With reference to Sft.{Mr Swift}3/BH.20.3.35, in both the cases which concern us, it is possible to modify the needle bearing housings so as to simplify the machining as requested.

N.Sch.4464 shews the needle bearing on the rocker shaft, with the endwise location transferred from the outer housing to the shaft. Any objection would arise in the assembling, but would not be serious.

As regards the needle bearing immediately under the steering wheel, there seems considerable doubt as to whether the oil seal is really needed, and we show an arrangement of this bearing eliminating the oil seal and shewing the end location of the needles arranged so as not to interfere with grinding the outer housing.

We also shew on this drawing a slight strengthening of the pendulum lever, because although the stress is already quite low the appearance has been criticised as being light.
