underneath the front roll of the apron is not a possible one and that if not transferred to the position already mentioned, below a shortened radiator grille, it would have to be mounted on the front edge of the apron above the roll with the horns underneath. With this scheme the fog lamp would have to be carried on one of the bumper bar brackets or two fog lamps could be fitted, one on each bracket. The problem of finding a satisfactory position for the front number plate was not very satisfactorily solved.

The general conclusion was, however, that a considerable step forward has been made with the appearance question of No.2. SpectreCodename for Phantom III. There is no doubt that the appearance of the whole car will be improved when we lift it another inch in the front with the modified pivots.

With regard to the appearance of the column controls, this has been adversely criticised by Eg. The models we have had up till now have been finished all black but in future we should have chromium plating on the horn button and the stems of the control levers. If possible we should use a moulding for the top of the control box as with the sprayed metal the lacquer is bound to rub away in use and expose unsightly patches of metal. If a metal top is necessary it should be provided with a chromium plated rim or moulding to withstand the effect of wear. Eg. would like to see the control levers for throttle and ignition made shorter, or it is suggested alternatively that the shape of the box is altered by increasing the diameter of the ratcheted portion forming the edge into a bead of large semi-circular section, generally increasing the size, and thereby improving the appearance of the box.

In modifying the design it should be considered whether the box should not have a metal core or framework and be enclosed in mouldings.
