R.R. 493A (50H) (D.B. 175 25-9-24) J.H.D. X8770 EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. Expl. No. REF: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LGG.1.25. SECRET. By A.{Mr Adams} C. X8770 X8730 To B.J. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Referring to BJ19/HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1.25. We have modified the switch on the EAC. in the manner in which we think will overcome the criticisms which were made by Sales. We shall do away entirely with the extra switch and the main ignition switch will provide the following positions :- (1) Battery ignition only without dynamo charge. (2) Magneto and Battery with dynamo charge. (3) Magneto only with dynamo charge. With this arrangement it will be seen that the car can be run on battery ignition only, or magneto only, or both ignitions. The weakness with this scheme is that if the car is run with no battery fitted, (in that case it would have to be run on magneto only) one of the wires on the dynamo itself would have to be disconnected. The same risk occurs on the 20 HP. and we fix a warning plate on the generator and on the battery box instructing that if the battery is ever taken away, a certain wire on the generator should be disconnected. We believe that the proposed arrangement is the best compromise. It is a good thing to do away with the extra ignition switch. We can show you this arrangement fitted to a car on Monday. We should also like you to see, and if possible, try | ||
