To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} +209 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Smth.3/KW.13.12.34. Supercharged Unit - B-12. We are not satisfied with the slow running of this unit and wish to try the effect of placing the blower at a lower level than the induction manifold. We attach three schemes for doing this, viz:- Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1649, in which the blower is transferred to the other side of the engine. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1650/6, in which the blower is kept on the same side as at present, but in which the vertical drive is shortened. In one scheme the blower is retained in its present position, with the rotor casing turned slightly so as to allow the induction pipe to pass behind the cylinder block. In the other scheme the dynamo is taken off, and the blower moved forward so as to feed directly into the induction passage of a 25 HP. block. Neither of these schemes should require very extensive modifications, Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1649 has the advantage of a short induction pipe, but Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1650 appears to be the more practicable proposition from the point of view of Wraith development. Will you please detail them and produce the necessary pieces. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Smth. | ||
