Hancock 1173 By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/R.3.3.38. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}3/N.24.2.38. In view of Hancock's remarks, there seems to be no alternative but to revert to the original spring on production immediately. This is a case where, if the hand starter is used intelligently the stronger spring is undoubtedly an advantage, but in the case of the public, who are not very intelligent, we are worse off. We are developing a scheme whereby the choke is positively closed by hand and cannot be kept fully closed unless the control is held. In view of our experience with the stronger choke spring, however, we shall have to be careful to get experience on a few customers cars before we put it on production.
