May 27th, 1932. Messrs. Rolls Royce, Ltd., DERBY. Dear Sirs, Re. Petrol Gauge Tank Unit. Following your comments regarding the spindle of the above unit, we have had these parts very carefully examined and find that the marks are not cracks but are merely score marks, which will not have any detrimental effect on the satisfactory operation of the instrument. We have also subjected these spindles to a number of tests, and they are quite satisfactory from seams and flaws. We trust that this explanation will relieve any doubts you may have had, and assure you of our best attention at all times. Yours faithfully, For S.SMITH & SONS (MOTOR ACCESSORIES) LIMITED.
