Dear Sirs,
LAMINATED ROAD SPRINGS.
We should very much like to know whether you have yet been able to thoroughly test on your bumping machine the 8 Goshawk springs which we returned to you fitted with new top leaves of Silico Manganese Steel.
When Mr Mark Firth and the undersigned had the pleasure of visiting you last we were led to understand that you would in the very near future be requiring delivery of springs, and in order to fulfil your requirements we feel it necessary to have the material prepared and rolled as quickly as ever possible. The decision as to whether you adopt Silico Manganese or Chrome Vanadium Steel is held up waiting these tests, and this point we consider should be settled as early as possible.
With reference to the springs for the 40 h.p. chassis, at the above mentioned meeting it was arranged that you should forward us an order for a set of springs giving us the definite poundages, and we should be obliged if you would please let us have this as early as possible. In the meantime, we have been getting out the necessary calculations for all the varying poundages mentioned on your blue prints.
We hope to despatch in about a week's time the 4 sets of 600 lbs. springs which we have in hand for you.
Yours faithfully,
THOS. FIRTH & SONS LIMITED.
(Sgd) W. FAWCETT.
DIRECTOR.
