BENTLEY ROAD TOOLS.

The tools under the bonnet on the streamlined Bentley definitely become too hot to handle after a fast run, even this cold weather. It was not possible to disconnect the wheel spanner from its fixing without using a piece of cloth or thick gloves to protect the hands from the heat.

We think it is necessary to carry the tools on the opposite side of the bonnet if there is room; if there is no room, then the wheel spanner and mallet should be removed as far away from the exhaust down pipe as possible.

There is no doubt that both the Phantom II and 20/25 HP. cars will suffer similarly. On these cars there appears to be ample room on the opposite side of the bonnet. We believe the reason in putting them on the exhaust side is because they are then on the side of the car furthest from the middle of the road. We rather think we shall have to put up with any possible inconvenience in this respect, if the tools are to be kept cool enough to handle.
