X 216 To Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} E.4/HP.16.11.32. c. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} De/HV. re Bensport J.1. Oil Tank. Further to our memo E.7/HP.11.11.32 we think the air vent from the tank ought to be vented to the crankcase, from information supplied by Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} Naturally the vent should still be taken from the top of the tank, and then this would finish up as a union for say a .312" pipe. The pipe can be taken round any convenient way, and finally connected to the crankcase, to get rid of the air pumped by the scavenger, plus any oil vapour or spray which may accompany it. The oil filler cap should be a very good fit and it should be possible to tighten it with a spanner. [STAMP] E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} NOV 17 1932 | ||
