We send you herewith drawing No.LeC.1592 shewing the above. In this design the water is taken from the cylinder head at 3 points by means of 1" dia. pipes, the discharge from which is collected in a taper tube 1 1/2" dia. at the larger end. This pipe should be tested with the object of ascertaining whether less water is displaced by steam owing to the steam being more quickly got rid of when boiling occurs. As this pipe fouls the present position of the ignition coil, the latter has been removed and carried on a temporary bracket on the front end of the valve gear cover. If the experiments shew that we shall want to adopt this form of water outlet pipe then a permanent scheme for carrying the coil will be produced. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
