X.664 - BATTERIES.

Since issuing our last report on batteries, ref: EFC2/T7.8.19, we have carried out considerable further testing work on these. The experimental routine tests through which we take experimental batteries are as follows :-
I. Preliminary first charge treatment. Continuous low rate discharge capacity tests, first at 1/10, and secondly at 1/6 rated ampere hour capacity.
II Continuous high rate discharge tests.
III Intermittent high rate discharge tests.
(a) 15 secs, on contact, 15 secs. off.
(b) 15 " " " , 45 " off.
IV Low rate discharge test on recording voltmeter.
After which, any special tests thought desirable on the battery are carried out.
Referring to the table of performances of experimental chassis lighting and starting batteries herewith, the first page of this gives a table of the results for batteries 1 - 9, which results have been variously reported in our EFC1/T5.2.19, EFC4/T21.3.19, EFC4/T10.4.19, EFC2/T14.5.19, EFC1/T11.6.19 and EFC3/T4.7.19.
