To HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} 2006 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}2/AP.5.3.38 416 BENTLEY III. Will you please instruct that provision be made and surplus material left in the crankcase and cap bearing bores in one of the above engines which you are instructing to cater for thin strip bearings (approx. .050 thick). Such bearings are being procured from Vandervells for trial as although not promising on B.II., we are definitely better off for bearing area on B.III. and accordingly this type of bearing may give a better account of itself. The bearings of course are true hlaves minus shims and when details come to hand to finish off the crankcase we will forward same to you. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H.
