As you know, we have been having discussions recently as to the relative merits of B.V. and B.II. with regard to fuel economy. One of the difficulties in settling the dispute has been the fact that we have not had a B.II. for comparison. Recently however, we have acquired a B.II. and the following figures, obtained by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} show the present situation. Investigation to rectify matters are now in hand. "Comparative petrol consumption runs have been carried out with B-214-GA and B-24-AW chassis, over the Ashbourne, Buxton, Belper circuit, at an average speed of 44 m.p.h. with the following results :- B-214-GA = 16.00 M.P.G. B-24-AW = 13.30 M.P.G. The cars were run one behind the other, with B-214-GA leading. The weight of both cars was 34 cwts. 2 qrs. 0 lbs. B-214-GA. B-24-AW.
