WRAITH.

1. Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}'s report, Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}1/N.4.4.38, on 26-G-VI was gone through.

The worst feature was the rattle in the timing gears and,
after considerable discussion, it was agreed that on production
provisionsshould be made for the cam balancer.

Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} did not agree that this would necessarily cure the
trouble but at the same time it was decided that it was better
to have it than leaveit off.

Other less important points in the report were touched on
and were all said to be having attention.

2. Distributor.

Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/R.30.3.38. This was discussed. We are going ahead
with the RR distributor and spring drives.

A mock-up of it has been tested. It was agreed that we must
immediately put the spring drive on all the cars in use, and
the Experimental Dept. must make special efforts to get
sufficient running to remove any doubt as to its being satis-
factory.

3. Engine Vibrations.

Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/R.23.3.38. This matter is still being investigated. It
is considered vitally important and we hope very soon to have
the comparison between the amount of oscillation taking place
on the nose of the crankshaft of this car and the
25/30.
