Issues with the torque re-action damper and clutch oil leakage during a 10,000-mile test in France.

Referring to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/AD.3.12.31. our remarks in regard to these two points are as follows:- 1/- KNOCKS FROM TORQUE RE-ACTION DAMPER. After seeing Hancock's trouble we arranged to cut out the steel conduit at this point and insert a piece of Sistoflex tube for a short distance in order to clear the damper. We are certain that this will settle this particular trouble. 2/- OIL ON THE CLUTCH. We are definitely of the opinion that the oil on the clutch is the result of the introduction of the small hole on the hub provided in the first motion shaft to lubricate the splines and bearing surfaces of the clutch plate hub. We think that the oil leaks out here, works along the member and right up the back of the plate. P.S. Since dictating the above, I have agreed with Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} to revert completely to earlier design without automatic lubrication. BY.{R.W.
