W/K.{Mr Kilner} To GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}, from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer} 1159 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}3/MH.{M. Huckerby}28.3.38. PH.III HUB BEARINGS. We are puzzled by the frequent complaints of noisy front and rear hub bearings. Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} returned to us one bearing which we found to contain a large number of soft steel chips. We should be glad if you could investigate some of these complaints with a view to telling us whether (a) the dirt comes from some external source and enters the hub during service, (b) the dirt is left in the hub during assembly, or (c) the dirt is worn off adjacent parts of the hubs.
