X.4473. CHASSIS H.T. IGNITION CABLES. X.6009.

Just previous to the standardisation of
Maconite H.T. ignition wires for the chassis we had written
a report EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 4/T2.5.28 dealing with the various points of
comparison between this cable and the standard (at the time)
Glover H.T. cable then in use, also the results of a number
of "sandwich" and other tests of Maconit and Glover cable
on experimental Phantom I cars. In that report we
referred to the submission by Messrs. Glover of other types
of H.T. cable namely, Cleverite and Super Glover. In due
course we received samples of such H.T. cables and also
samples of Helsby H.T. cable supplied by the British Insulated
and Helsby Cable Co.Ltd.
A similar series of comparative tests of
Maconite, Gloverite, Super Glover and Helsby cables to those
originally done between Maconite and the old standard Glover
has now been completed, the tests on the chassis being
carried out on a Phantom I chassis 12-EX.
A complete series of tests was carried out
to our general specification of H.T. cable tests, comprising -
