EFCA/ADS.12.29. contd. -2- (A) Physical and chemical tests of the dielectric. (B) Electrical tests (C) Chassis and subsequent tests. The details of the tests under Section (A) are as follows :- (1) Immersion in petrol for 100 hours, note effect and increase in weight, if any. Effect on Gloverite - swollen, conductor loosened. " " Super Glover - " " " " Helsby - swollen, inner sheath softened and sticky. " " Maconite - swollen. (2) Immersion in engine oil for 100 hours, again note effect and increase in weight. Effect on Gloverite - negligible. " " Super Glover - " " " Helsby - " " " Maconite - " (3) Temperature test in which the cable is maintained at a temperature of 150°C. at 4 hours, and the effect observed on the dielectric. The degree of inflammability is also observed by exposing a portion of the dielectric to a naked flame. Effect on Gloverite - surface cracks when bent into a loop. | ||
