RE. EAGLE XVI.

We have carried out a further series of tests with plain whitemetalised bearings having steel cores. These bearings were both pressure fed. Castrol oil was used which made it possible to run at higher temperatures.

The bearings tested were in one case Press fit having clearance on shaft of .001, and the other floating fit with a clearance on shaft of .0008 and .0012 between trunnion and bearing. The press fit bearing failed after 25 hrs. 32 mins. running. The floating bush is still in good condition, and will be subjected to further tests. It will be observed that on these tests we have run with the max. load of 1935 lbs.
