13498 To Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} from Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} c. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Roy{Sir Henry Royce}5/MG2.9.30. X.1162 AMMETERS X.4622 X.3498 You will recollect that for a period of years we fitted Weston ammeters to all our chassis. At a later date, in order to use English instruments, we standardised Elliott, and recently Ferranti. I suggest that for the left-hand chassis now going through the Works we revert to the Weston ammeter, seeing the bulk of such chassis will be used on the American Continent, and Service arrangements there for the Weston ammeter obviously will be better than for the English Elliott or Ferranti. As far as cost is concerned, there is nothing to choose. I would suggest we do not differentiate between the left-hand chassis going on the European and American Continents, as the Weston Service arrangements on the European Continent are equally as good as the Elliott and Ferranti, i.e. if this scheme is agreed, it is definitely arranged that all left-hand chassis are fitted with Weston ammeters. I suggest to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} that a copy of this be sent to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} in case there are any arrangements in our American Contract of which we are unaware which would affect the suggestion. Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
