EFC. WB.{Mr Brazier/Mr Bell}118. 13.12.26. B.T.H. TYPE SCL2-7 AND WATFORD TYPE IS.12. MAGNETOS FOR FALCON X. We have now completed comparative electrical performance tests on one of each of the above magnetos. Our observations shew that the Watford gives better sparking at high speeds and the B.T.H. at low speeds, this is also confirmed by results obtained with each magneto on our standard leaky gap. If the Watford was made more reliable we suggest it would be the better of the two electrically for our aero engine requirements. On the other hand, the B.T.H. is fairly reliable and well made (the only exception being the fairly rapid increase of primary gap with use) and with the internal time functioning judiciously rearranged would suit our requirements very well.
