To EH. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} 7th. March. 1919. E6/G7.3.19. RE PURCHASING "BUICK" CAR. X.8317 Referring to our telegram regarding the purchase of a "Buick", Mr. Royce says that it will be remembered that it was decided to obtain some time ago, examples of the "Buick", "Marmon", and the "Delage". We have the "Delage", and it now seems worth while to buy a "Buick", but I believe it is considered an unprofitable undertaking to buy a "Marmon" at the price we should have to pay since we are provided with such excellent illustrations of the design of the "Marmon" in the catalogue issued by that firm, and the latter type obviously possesses some objectionable features which we do not like. It would be interesting to know what you think you will be able to do with the "Delage" to bring it up to the proposed standard of performance before sending it to West WitteringHenry Royce's home town.
