X. 3317 - RE "BUICK"CAR.

Sometime ago Mr. Royce thought we should test a clutch on a Buick Car because of the excellent qualities Mr. De Salamanca reported in this clutch.

When they were demonstrating the "Godward" carburetter to me (fitted to a Buick Car) the other day, I got the driver to carry out several tests on the clutch. The clutch which is a dry plate type, behaved excellently under all conditions except that there was a slight shudder in getting away from a standing start on the top gear. The Buick car struck me as being exceedingly nice and it might pay us to try and obtain one in good condition.

The engine is a 6-cylinder 82 mm. x 114 mm. or 3.2" x 4½". It has overhead valves and has inlet and exhaust flanges so that we could put on any arrangement of induction pipes we choose. It has a Delco Ignition, Dynamo and Starter set. Both brakes are on the rear wheels and appeared to be particularly good brakes for a cheap car.
