(9) Investigation of valve and seat temperatures as affected by the C.R. and throat area, tests being carried out concurrently with item (2) and ultimate results compared with single cylinder tests.

(10) Temperature and coolant flow tests over the block and head, with an investigation into the heat flow at various points.

(11) Indicator diagrams and rates of pressure rise etc. with Farnborough and cathode ray indicators, results being compared with B.III.

(12) Investigation into valve gear characteristics to see if improvements will allow weaker valve springs to be used.
