Dear Sirs,

Re Battery Service.

We beg to put on record the discussion at your Works on the 24th inst. between the undersigned and your Messrs.Whitehead, Clarke and Pope, concerning a point arising about the terms of our Battery Service arrangements with you, embodied in our letters of March 25th and April 21st, and your letter of April 13th, 1922.

Your Scottish Agents - The Clyde Automobile Company of Glasgow - recently wired us to send immediately, by passenger train, a fully charged 12 volt battery for a Rolls-Royce car. The order was accepted in good faith by us, and dealt with the same day, but we heard the following day that the battery was to replace an alleged defective one on chassis No. 62-LG and that "acting on instructions received from Rolls-Royce some little time ago" they had wired us, asking us to send "a new battery, fully charged, by passenger train". We quite appreciate that the Clyde Automobile Company are labouring under a misapprehension of the arrangements between us, but as these misunderstandings are expensive and avoidable, we shall be much obliged if you will kindly make the arrangement quite clear to your representatives. Please, also, explain that any alleged defective batteries in any home territories, outside the London radius and the Derby radius, should be sent to us at Clifton Junction, there to be dealt with by us in accordance with the decision made at the Conference, viz., that the undersigned will personally undertake an inspection of such batteries and we will advise you of the result of these inspections and await your instructions in the matter.

Yours faithfully,

THE CHLORIDE ELECTRICAL STORAGE COMPANY LTD.

(Sgd) E.C.McKinnon.

Chief Engineer.
