X3806 BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to BJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}3/M10.5.28. CENTRALISED CHASSIS LUBRICATION. X.3806 X.7420 Herewith we send N.schs. 2596/7 shewing the re-arrangement of the centralised lubrication on the front axle to suit the combined Enots-Bijur scheme. The drgs. are alternative proposals. N.sch.2597 leaves the present fittings on the axle practically unaltered, and requires only one lubricating point. N.sch. 2596 requires some modified pieces and has two lubricating points, but reduces the number of pipes and drip plugs. We are not certain which will be preferred, but we think the safest plan would be to use N.sch.2597 as this makes provision for the lubrication of the axle control. Possibly the Expl: Dept: have views on the desirability of one or two points of lubrication on the axle. The remaining instructions for the modification of the lubrication system are following immediately. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
