-4- W.III NO. 9 UNIT - Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} (f) Crank oscillation variation with ignition advance. Try up to drop of 10% power by retarding. (g) Crank oscillation with harmonic damper which is being produced in shop. (h) By means of percussion instrument check movement along crankcase. Eventually unit to be tested prior to fitting in 29.G.VI, i.e. power curves, gear quietening, etc. NO. 2 BED. SINGLE CYLINDER. Detonation and power tests with ramp head and std. piston against raised crown piston with ramp head to suit, both being at 7.) : 1 ratio. B.III NO.4 UNIT. Prior to starting piston and consumption tests, check (a) open exhaust power. (b) power with standard silencer, also minimum advance for max. power, also non-detonating power and advance. By arrangement of cylinder studs fit B.III cylinder head and induction system and compare with B.II head. Using B.III head with .100 machined off face and .030 gasket, compression ratio is 6.5 : 1. These compression ratio figures to be checked over. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} | ||
