X.5730. X.8730. Y8730 Extract from EFCl/T2.3.28. (X.4008) (To R.{Sir Henry Royce}) In passing, a point which we think we have previously reported is that in whatever circumstances the dynamo is switched off charge it is always better for de-excitation of the machine to be brought about by breaking the field (i.e. not breaking the armature circuit first where both are broken). We have now two switchboxes (Phantom and 20 H.P.) made up each with a slight modification ensuring such first breakage of the field, and in view of the fact that one or two switchboxes have now (only comparatively recently) been returned from customers with armature contacts badly burnt through the armature breaking first, we think that this slight modification should be adopted as standard forthwith. | ||
