Referring to RY/M27.4.29, we had noticed the defect you refer to in producing the ground tooth form, and had already impressed the importance of this point upon the Gear Grinding Co. who produce the gears in question. We had suggested and they had agreed to a scheme by which the radius at the root of the tooth as formed on the grinding wheel is produced continuously with the tooth flank on their pantograph attach-ment, under which circumstances of course no line appears. We have already cleared the matter up on the aero engine gears, and further deliveries of the 20 HP. will be clear of this fault. BH BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
