Herewith we send N.sch.2881 shewing the modifications to the freewheel which R.{Sir Henry Royce} asks for in Rl/M13.4.29.

We are not quite certain how R.{Sir Henry Royce} intends that the window shall be produced for assembling the spring, but we believe that he intends it to be with the end mill which forms the stop for the freewheeling position of the cage. The drilled holes can either be left as this end mill leaves them after forming the recess for the spring, or the cutter can be dipped still further in. We thought that this was a matter for the Production Dept. to choose.

We have also increased the dia. of the end mill making the window for the cage projections, and have provided narrow faces on the driving member to control the cage.

On examination N.schs. 2767 and 2773 we see that we have not made them quite agree, so we have taken this opportunity to incorporate the dimensions of N.sch.2773.

As we are not quite certain of R's meaning we have also prepared N.sch.2880 shewing the window for the spring made with a wheel cutter. Unless Derby think that this is much to be preferred from a manufacturingpoint of view nothing should be done.
