-2- Differential. contd. Diff. Pinion Adjusting Washers. .002 each. Pin G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 100164. .010 on diameter, both ends. All gears and pinions magnetic tested and found free from cracks. Flanged axle shaft bushes, similar to Phantom and 20/25 would be preferable to the plain sleeve bushes G.100135 used on Bentley, as the latter tend to work into the diff. box and rob the axle shaft adjusting washer of a certain amount of support. Furthermore, any hard deposit collecting round the adjusting washer prevents ingress of oil to the thrust face. Axle Shafts GB.607/8 Both shafts twisted. Total deflection on full length of 1.000 diameter waist section 6¾° N.S. 9¼° O.S. There was an unusually heavy accumulation of sediment in the centre casing and differential, all passages and oil ways being completely blocked with residue from the oil. RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} | ||
