X3409 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}15/AD. August 16th, 1932. Mr. E.D. Dalmaine, British Belting & Asbestos Ltd. "Ullenhall", Nr. Henley in Arden, Warwickshire. Dear Sir, Further to our conversation the other day, we send you herewith drawings G.100294 and G.100298 which are the linings for our front and rear foot brakes. We require 16 linings of each drawing number to equip a complete car. We should therefore like 3 sets or 24 off each to enable us to carry out adequate tests on the new material. We should be glad if you will let us have these pieces as soon as possible as we anticipate that the cars will be ready to start tests in about three weeks' time. With regard to the selvedge edge cotton duck material, we send you two drawings Nos. G.100583 a small servo lining, and E.82463 a torque reaction friction disc, both of which we should like producing in the new method if this is possible. Incidentally, drawing G.100583 shows the method of holding on the servo lining by staples which you were querying the other day. If you have any information to give us with regard to your experience on holding on linings without rivets we should be most interested to take advantage of it. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED, | ||
