| X3498. Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} from EFC. c. Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} EFC3/AD3.12.29. X.3498. FERRANTI AMMETER. We have recently received two visits from Mr.Lawton from Messrs. Ferranti with reference to Ferranti chassis ammeters. Our position in the matter at the moment has been fully explained to this representative, and Messrs. Ferranti are now desirous of having the opportunity of quoting us for six sample instruments made up to our standard instrument patch finish. It has been explained through this representative that if we provide them with the necessary information to enable them to quote for six such instruments, there will be no undertaking to accept their quotation. We are of the opinion that the necessary particulars should be given to Messrs. Ferranti to enable them to quote a special price for six sample instruments, and will be pleased if you will arrange this in accordance with the terms arranged with their representative. We made it clear to Mr.Lawton that we should not take the price which they quote for the six instruments as necessarily being an indication of the price they would subsequently quote for instruments received for production should we ever arrive at that stage.
