contd :- -2- improved the cold oil supply. without causing excessive flow when hot, by putting a small 'flat' over the oil holes on the push rod side of the rocker shaft. This small flat brought the oil hole into communication with the annular space formed between the two halves of the bush. With this arrangement it was necessary to restrict the valve pad end of the rocker by means of a plug bored with a .062 dia. hole to prevent too much oil flowing over the valves and intro-ducing the tendency for the exhaust to smoke during light running. So far our tests have shewn that the above has certainly been the most satisfactory scheme tested and we suggest that this should be employed on the first prpduction SS.{S. Smith} engines.
