Bentley Clutch.

Herewith is N. Sch.4190 shewing the clutch having the fabric on the driven member, modified, and simplified by removing the black plate, removing the spring drive, using an M.S. pressing for the cover plate instead of either the machined forging or the aluminium casting.

The flywheel is of the disc type and the removal of the back plate enables the overhang to be much reduced.

The cast iron pressure plate has been reduced in thickness, and simplified by removing the bolted on bridge pieces carrying the withdrawal set screws, which were a source of trouble, and casting the set screw bosses solid with the pressure member.

It may be difficult to get a pressing for the cover plate on the first clutch, but it could be machined from a forging. The thickness is based on that of Borg and Beck.
