To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from EFC. X6096 EFC/T2.11.27. MUSHROOM TYPE H.T. ROTOR. May we refer you to our general report EFC/T 22.10.27. in which it was suggested to R.{Sir Henry Royce} that the mushroom rotor be provided with vanes to cause a definite impelling effect on the air in the distributor head. We have seen a mushroom rotor of this type on a jump spark distributor of an M.L. magneto. My present point is that as we have not received an answer from R.{Sir Henry Royce}, do you think this might be instructed in the Drawing Office ? We would like to get a number of these running with a view to standardisation owing to cases of failures we have had with the present rotor, but our experiments have shown that we have not got the advantage in the direction of reducing corrosion with the present mushroom type rotor over the standard rotor.
