To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from BJ. 18230 Copies to...Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} PN.{Mr Northey} GWB. SILENCER FOR "NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I". We had a conference with R.{Sir Henry Royce} this morning, and asked whether he saw any objection to our using the silencer which is now on our demonstration cars until the new silencer recently designed by West witteringHenry Royce's home town had been made and tested. R.{Sir Henry Royce} replied that the West witteringHenry Royce's home town silencer was very similar to the other, but was easier to make, and it it should be possible for the Experimental Department to make one very quickly for us to test in London and it could then be put into production without delay. Can you please have this pressed forward, as every car we produce with the present standard silencer is doing us harm. B.J. | ||
