R.R. 235 a (150 u) (V.V. 585 23.2.14) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 2363. Copy. COPY. Beacon Hotel, Crowborough, Sussex. 18th June, 1912. Mr Claude Johnson from F.H.R. Mr Hallam's sheet which Mr Wormald has sent in is exceedingly interesting. It at once occurred to me a little time ago when there were several complaints about oil pressure not standing up, that possibly we were not fitting the engine bearings and liners up as effectively to retain oil as we used to do. This report would rather confirm this view. At the same time we might possibly find some means of pressing the white metal face of the liner on to the shaft while the bearing is being tightened. I will go into this point as soon as possible. At the same time we must thank Mr Hallam for his clever experimenting on the subject. His deductions are quite sensible and sound. F.H.R.
